Training courses:
- Paragliding courses for beginners;
- Courses for advanced pilots:
- Thermal flying;
- Cross country flying;
- SIV course (asymmetric collapse, front-stall, b-stall etc.); )
- Bivouac flying.
Course duration depends on weather conditions and lasts between 2 and 3 months for beginner courses and 5 and 30 days for advanced pilots.
For beginner courses we provide the following:
- Flight equipment;
- Course manual;
- Graduation diploma.
Lodging and meals can be provided to course participants upon request.
Pilots take part at advanced courses using their own equipment consisting of: paraglider with type approval, adequate harness with back protection preferred, reserve parachute, helmet, altivario and GPS device recommended.
Participants attend the courses at their own responsibility.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age; in case of younger participants notary certified parent’s approval is required.
Courses are free of charge for course participants between 16 and 18 years of age.
Documents required for participation at beginner courses:
- Identity card;
- Medical certificate issued by the family physician certifying participant’s aptness to practice this sport.
Flying sites where practical courses are held in Harghita county depending on weather conditions:
Şumuleu –Ciuc, Lunca de Mijloc, Racu, Mindsentea.
Types of courses:
Weekend course (2 days).
Includes:
Tandem flight of at least 10 minutes;
2 hours theoretical course (foundations of paragliding).
Practical training: 2 days of ground handling, launch and take off from a small slope of 70 – 100 m.
If participants decide to take the extra course after the weekend course, they get a 10% discount from the price of the extra course.
Graduates get a graduation diploma, if they pass the final theoretical and practical exams.
Extra couse (3 months, every weekend)
Includes:
Tandem flight of at least 1 hour;
30 hours theoretical course (foundations of paragliding, advanced studies).
Practical training: 6 days of ground handling, launching and take off from a small slope of 70 – 100 m. 15 days take off on a slope 120 – 300 m high.
At least 10 hours of thermodynamic flight.
Extra paragliding course
Theoretical flight training includes:
- Getting to know the flight equipment;
- Procedures of equipping, take off, landing and handling your paraglider;
- Meteorology and micro-climatic conditions;
- Aerodynamics;
- Special cases of rapid descent and handling flight incidents;
- Survival in the mountains and first aid measures.
Practical training includes:
- Ground handling and light running with raised canopy;
- Low altitude top-down flights;
- Top-down flights from a 300 m high hill;
- Rapid descent techniques (big ears, spiral, b-stall).
The final theoretical and practical exam is graded with passed/not passed.
At the end of the training course participants receive a graduation diploma; and they can obtain a paragliding sports pilot flight license through Turbulencia Aeroklub, if required.
